What is Dadalo?
The Dadalo project is a critical analysis of contemporary manipulation mechanisms and disinformation. Here I examine conspiracy theories through the lens of social sciences and psychology, drawing particular inspiration from the work of semiologists such as Umberto Eco. The main mission of this project is to create an antidote in the form of critical thinking to the madness of the world and paranoid thinking.
Analysis of specific conspiracy theories
I focus on deconstructing the mechanisms of creation and spread of conspiracy theories. I analyze specific cases - from narratives around climate change, through manipulation in social media, to theories about the “deep state” and international politics. Each analysis is based on methods developed by critical social theory and semiology.
Mechanisms of disinformation and propaganda
I study contemporary manipulation techniques - from recommendation algorithms in social media, through communication strategies in podcasts, to mechanisms of building paranoid narratives. I am particularly interested in the ways technology amplifies or generates new forms of disinformation.
Critical view of media and activism
I analyze methods and argumentation used by various activist movements, sparing neither the right nor the left. I focus on rhetorical mechanisms, communication strategies, and ways of building mobilizing narratives. I combine theoretical knowledge with practical engagement in urban activism.
Impact of artificial intelligence on society
I track AI development and its social consequences - from impact on e-commerce and marketing, through changes in education, to potential threats related to automation of disinformation. As someone from the IT industry, I combine technical perspective with humanistic analysis.
About the author
Maciej Lesiak - I combine two seemingly distant worlds: philosophical reflection on contemporary times and practical experience in technology. As a graduate of philosophy from University of Łódź and University of Wrocław, with particular emphasis on critical social theories, I am fascinated by Jung’s depth psychology, Eliade’s mythology, and Umberto Eco’s semiology.
For 15 years I have been running a company in the IT industry, specializing in cloud infrastructure and server systems. This unusual marriage of technical and humanistic competencies allows me to take a unique look at contemporary social and technological phenomena.
Declarations
Apolitical stance
I am aware that analyzing conspiracy theories and manipulation mechanisms may cause political problems. I select materials according to my current research interests, not guided by political motivations. I do not strive for this blog to become an element of political games.
Position on AI
I declare that no texts on this site are generated by language models such as AI/GPT. Articles are the result of my listening, watching, reading, research and reflection. Only translations from Polish to English are made with the support of machine tools.
