A supplement to the series of articles related to conspiracy theories surrounding the medical industry. Discussion on the Purdue Pharma case and other major pharmaceutical companies in the context of legal settlements with the US Department of Justice.

Introduction - How Many Cases are Similar to Purdue Pharma?

The table below serves as an extension to the series of articles related to conspiracy theories surrounding big pharma, or the medical industry. In writing the series on Purdue Pharma and OxyContin, I reviewed numerous investigative articles from the US and documents from the US Department of Justice. At one point, I began to wonder how many cases resembled Purdue Pharma’s, where medical documentation was falsified, and tactics of discrediting and manipulation were employed? I came across numerous primary sources discussing these matters. For now, I’m publishing a translation of the table from the List of Major Settlements between Pharmaceutical Companies and the US Department of Justice found on Wikipedia.

Expanding the Topic and Continuing the Discussion

I’ve decided to delve deeper into the subject matter due to the overwhelming response to my initial articles on the OxyContin case. When investigating conspiracy theories, it’s essential to recognize that many of them are often grounded in truth. It’s valuable to present both the proven facts and the conspiracy theories that have transformed into verified conspiracies. At the same time, it’s crucial to debunk the paranoid thinking that sees pure corporate malevolence in every drug, vaccine, or medical product. Adopting a scientific, critical approach that cites sources will allow us to view the issue from multiple perspectives.

I will certainly be examining other matters related to the pharmaceutical industry, as they might be intriguing from the standpoint of employed persuasion techniques, business intelligence, and the emergence of conspiracy theories—whether they arise incidentally or are intentionally crafted.
